The history of the convent:
The history of the convent begins in June 1568, when the first stone was laid on the bequest of Elisabetta di Cerignano. Her son Raffaele, who had embraced religious life by entering the Carmelite Order in Pisa, was the founder and first prior of the convent. Next to the convent there was also a church, once equipped with six altars, of which today only the suggestive pillars remain.
Over the centuries, the convent has hosted not only Carmelite friars, but also families and prominent figures such as the famous doctor Ennio Adreani, a luminary of the 1960s in the field of homeopathy and acupuncture. Here, Dr. Adreani carried out his important work of care, leaving as a legacy all his study books, which bear witness to a fascinating history and a deep connection with natural medicine.

Lunigiana
The extreme territory of northern Tuscany, Lunigiana (Lunensis Ager – Area di Luni) is a land that has remained authentic over time, rich in history and mystery, crossed by the Magra river and by streams that wind through ancient villages and chestnut groves.
It extends between the valleys at the foot of the Apennines and the Apuan Alps, within the UNESCO MAB Reserve, and it hides many naturalistic beauties: from the Lunigiana Bike Area to the Strait of Giaredo, to the Equi Terme Caves and the snow-capped peaks of Zum Zeri.
Its strategic position has always made it a land of passage and a natural corridor between the mountains and the sea. Even today it is crossed by important historical paths, such as the Via Francigena, of which Sigeric, Archbishop of Canterbury in the 10th century, identified three stages, the Via del Volto Santo and the Via degli Abati.
Among the most mysterious symbols of the past we find the Stele Statues, anthropomorphic sculptures carved in sandstone by the people who inhabited Lunigiana more than 3000 years ago, brought to light starting from the early 1900s and today preserved in a charming dedicated Museum.
But perhaps the Middle Ages are the most fascinating and tangible period of this land. From 802, for six long centuries, the Malaspina family dominated the entire Val di Magra, building imposing castles that can still be visited today. A true thousand-year-old story, also told in the small museums scattered throughout the area.
On a trip to Lunigiana, the excellent typical dishes handed down for centuries of generations are worth a taste, as well as fine wines and liqueurs.
