A few kilometers from the coast, but surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, is the small and adorable village of Riparbella. The country undoubtedly feels all the strength of the sea, with its scents of Mediterranean scrub and its climate, but it lives the air typical of the hills, which since time immemorial have been the safe home of ancient populations, who have seen in this area the ideal place in which to establish one’s lives.
The traces of the Etruscan civilization that have been found in the area tell us of a people that already in 600 BC. he had discovered the pleasure of the genuine products of this land. More than anything else in their settlements, of these historic inhabitants, the wine amphorae, testimony of the rural vocation of the area, have come down to us.
Even today, none of this dedication to the land is lost: the Riparbella farms produce some of the best wines in the area, as well as a superfine olive oil. There is no shortage of dishes on the tables that speak of this corner of Tuscany, which indisputably prefers the tasty flavors of game.
A visit to Riparbella necessarily passes through its woods and countryside, with nature trails to be covered on foot, on horseback, by mountain bike, but cannot ignore a walk in the historic center. The narrow streets, of medieval origin, pass between the old houses built around the castle, between historic buildings and pretty churches.
